I joined Believer Music for guitar lessons as I missed having lessons when I was young. At 65, I decided to give myself an opportunity to go for guitar lessons. I received the Believer Music flyers and was thrilled that they offered guitar lessons with the specific purpose of not just learning the guitar in strumming and Chord changing, but a focus on worshipping the Lord through Christian songs.  I am grateful to Believer Music for such an opportunity and I have been practicing hard to be able to cope with the program. When I first decided to learn the keyboard with my sister and our friends, it was simply for fun and to break out of my usual routine. It was pretty easy during the Beginners' course, even though I had very little music background. It became more challenging with higher modules, especially when it comes to fills, rhythms etc, but with lots of encouragement & prayer from my coach as well as my classmates, it made the journey easier. I still have my struggles ("disobedient fingers", time etc), but they're more manageable - and it basically boils down to practise, practise & more practise. Of course, having a coach who insists that you sit within his view also motivates one to practise harder. Not to mention classmates who give tips are are willing to meet you when you need additional help. I have made some very wonderful friends, and I also begin to enjoy my personal worship more. Sometimes, when my day seems too heavy to bear, just playing a melody to the Lord makes a great difference. All things are possible with God - even turning stubborn-fingers to "look-almost-like real" amateur keyboardist. Though I had been playing guitar through a self-learning mode for some years, the course has really helped me to un-learn some of the "bad habits" and re-learn some of the basics. I praise God that I was led to Believer Music through a churchmate.  Initially my objective for learning the keyboard was so that I would be able to use the keyboard at home. But since the class will start in April, and guitar is available in March, and with the very friendly assistance of the staff regarding the course, the very well provided facilities and musical instruments made me sign up for the guitar course.  It was a great and wonderful experience. I completed my piano lessons as a “family duty” when I was in high school and had stopped playing the piano since. Playing the keyboard was dreary as it was always exams, scales and umpteen repeated times to perfect the exam pieces. After some prompting by God, I decided to pick up keyboard as a worship tool. Believer Music Class is a great place for me to re-learn everything. I signed up for beginners in 2005. The teachers are really patient and unselfish in sharing. For those who had taken piano before you would probably have gone thru this regiment i.e. playing with a rubber on the back of your wrist, not being able to move your upper body unnecessary on the chair etc. etc.  In Believer Music, the focus is encountering God and to bring to God the little that we have i.e .worship – which is great! Techniques are also shared in a fun, patient non-demanding way. It is conducive to build confidence and joy in worship. The GREAT thing, for me, is that it is not totally structured.  After my first volunteered session as a keyboardist in our church network meeting, my pastor said this to me. This must be your “best kept secret” i.e I’ve been with the church since late 80s but no one has known that I played the keyboard. I’ve to be mindful of Luke 8:16 “no one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed...” Playing in a worship environment is indeed very different then playing solo. There are many contingencies that has to be prepared for such as off-key, off-beat, ministry etc.. I really enjoyed every session of my class with my classmates who are wonderful & fun people to learn with. When they used their fingers & voices to worship, it was an uplifting experience. Their hard work & enthusiasm are infectious. As for the coach, what can I say? She's great! She has done a great job in imparting her experience in worship ministry. Something worth special mention is that she is prayerful in her worship. When her prayers & personal testimony are intertwined with the songs we hear for the 1st time, the meaning of the songs has added a new dimension. But most importantly, it brings us closer to God. Before I joined BM, i was struggling with the formation of chords and had no idea how to do it correctly. I bought many books and cds for self study but due to a lack of discipline and personal coaching, I kind of gave up. However, deep in my heart, the interest was still burning. I have never imagined myself learning how to play a keyboard.  The only song that I know is probably “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” (using 2 fingers).  I got interested in playing keyboard when my church encouraged us to learn a new musical instrument.  I tried on keyboard and managed to learn how to play “Chu Ni Yi Wai” using chords.  It was then that I decided to join the beginner lesson to improve on my skills as all I know was the root position of each chord.  I had a wonderful coach who never fails to inspire the students.  I enjoyed the spiritual food provided by him and all the worship sessions. I had also attended several make up lessons conducted by another coach.  She is one of the most patient coach I had seen. She went for the extra mile to teach me after lesson ended as I was very weak in my theory. I would like to thank the Lord for Believer music school- it’s founders and teachers. Thank the Lord for their vision to build an army of cell musicians. Through their vocal and keyboard courses, I have learnt much music knowledge/skills and spiritual knowledge to equip myself in the ministry of worship.  In the past, by the grace of God I do move in the prophetic gift, such as prophetic song. However, due to lack of musical knowledge and skill, I am not able to play and put this into a music score. Recently, by the grace of God and due to the training in Believer, I am able to apply all the knowledge and skills into composing, playing and singing prophetic songs. This is a great place to learn how to praise God with musical instruments. Why? For the warm hearted coaches, who pray with you at the beginning and sometimes in the middle of each class. It is a simple practice, but they know that it is important, and that it works both ways for students and the coaches. In this testimony, I particularly wish to mention my coach for guitar Beginner and WD1. His dedication and patience with the most difficult students (including myself) is noteworthy. I struggled with the Beginner course, having great difficulties with chord progressions. But his patience and inspirational words of encouragement kept me going. All praises to the Lord that today, I am able to strum a few songs at small group meetings. Ever since, small group worship sessions have gotten livelier. Thank you Coach. After the 2 courses I have attended, especially upon completion of Worship Dynamics I, I found that I could sing very much better without hurting my throat. I am also able to control my voice and hit high notes without any problem, as compared to my performance during Primer Course. This is due to all your effort in the duration of the course, in reminding me of my problem areas and how to improve them.

I have gained much confidence, so much so that I have taken on the challenge of leading my Cell Group Worship since Dec 2005. Besides vocal training, I am also able to better interpret songs, and I like the Bible verses quoted in the song sheets. All of this adds power and strength when we sing our praises to the Lord. Hi there, it's my 3rd term under the guitar worship course and I am so blown by the things I've learnt and what the future might hold for me.
I started at beginners level with a lot of problems with strumming and tempo. Now, i think I'm getting better. Thanks to my coach. You guys know who you are.
In WD1 they introduced two pattern of finger picking. Listen to this, the first time I entertained the thoughts of me wanting to play guitar, to me, I will never learn finger picking. But look at me right now, I am loving the technique every time I'm doing it. Too bad @ WD1, we will not be covering the finger picking. It will be taught though at the Fingerstyle module - a couple of terms away. And I tell you I'm looking forward to it even though I'm having a hardtime coping with my work schedule, there's just so many things to say being taught by a team who inspire you to learn more and impart you with different techniques and pattern. More to that.... it's their commitment to fullfilling the highest call of man - to worship. That inspires us to practice more and take that step of faith to "Take it Higher"

Thank you for the lessons. While I have not perfected the skills nor claim I'm anywhere near there, my experience through the class more than makes up for it.

When I decided to take up the classes, it was only for the sake of polishing my guitar skills so that I can use it for worship. I did not think very much about what it could do for me in terms of my journey with God.

Through the lessons about God via the book of Exodus, God ministered to me through specific verses that has helped me stay focused on Him in the difficult times I am going through.

While the book of Exodus is not new to me, I learnt to just follow Him trusting Him to lead me as He did with the Israelites through the pillar of fire and cloud, that He will ultimately bring me to His promised land for me. Secondly, I have learnt to just trust Him that at the appropriate time, the red sea will part for me because He is in control.

Though I might go to the class tired and at times discouraged, the Word of God spoken has repeatedly gave me new hope and assurance that God is with me. Now, no matter how tired I am, Tuesdays' evenings have become an appointment with God that I must keep because He will turn up and minister to me. Thus, it has gone beyond picking up skills but more of ministry to me.

Thanks to my coaches. Through you, I have learnt new and precious lessons on worship apart from the skills I have picked up.

This is my first time learning the guitar. The reason I wanted to take up the beginner program was to bless my children in my church. I'm a Children's Church teacher & at the moment I'm just leading worship. We don't have any musicians in our Children's Church so all the while we've been using CDs to do our praise & worship & of cos together with some sign languages, actions, tambourines, banners & streamers. It's not easy for me to play the guitar cos I'm a small-built girl & my fingers are short. I'll have a problem whenever I need to mute the sixth string, but thank God for my instructor who has been very patient with me & also there to encourage me. He encouraged me to go for extra make-up classes so I can improve myself. I heeded his advice & Praise The Lord, I really did improve! Today is our presentation day & he said I've improved alot ever since the first day although I needed extra work on improving my chords. He said I can get ready to go to WD1 after I graduate from the beginner program. Praise the Lord!! All Glory to Him alone!!

I have just completed the Primer course in the vocal program, and I have recently signed up for WD1. I would like to share with all our brothers and sisters in Christ, that after I took up this course, it has become much easier for me to sing to our Abba Father. I can now sing more expressively for Him, and I feel myself drawing closer to Him in worship. In addition, I feel like my voice has opened up more, has developed a more beautiful tone, and am now more skilled in breath control. I started off struggling with my quiet time with the Lord. As I began to ask of Him, I was prompted to sing and worship Him. Gradually, I incorporated the guitar,which has helped in building up the spiritual atmosphere.

One day, I was practicing my guitar, still struggling with my fingering..God spoke to me to wait upon Him and be in His presence daily, so He can impart wisdom. I began to be more serious with the lessons. Gradually, as I progressed with the lessons at Believer music, I learnt to enjoy playing the guitar in His presence more. My quiet time with the Lord is now more regular. I find myself waiting upon the Lord just to have Him say something to me at the beginning of each day. It can be a word.. a phrase, a scripture. Sometimes, I'm blessed with a message. Other times, He prompts me to interceed and pray for someone. At those times, I just play two or more chords in repetition, until I feel the burden being released. I'm amazed at how long I could sustain, even when my fingers hurt. It has been a joy...

Ever since i became a christian, i've always wanted to learn the keyboard. Whenever we have praise and worship, i will tune specifically to the keyboardist, listening how he or she would go about playing it.
I went around asking christian friends to teach me, but their answers were always "i don't now how to teach you."

I was so desperate to learn, hoping to worship God with this instrument that i once resorted to borrowing a keyboard from my uncle and tried learning it myself!

But then came one morning, when my good friend called me and told me about Believer Music. I was delighted! After so many years, i'm finally given this opportunity!

The beginner module is ending soon and i really learnt alot from this programme and had a wonderful time! I would like to take this opportunity to thank my coach for her guidance and impartation! The Believer Vocal Program is really great! It brought me to another level of experience in worship and communication with God.

Before this program, I didn’t think too much about the importance of getting ‘training’ in worship singing. I now think that vocal training can be as important as bible study and prayer. For e.g., exegesis and hermeneutics are very important in bible studies and these ‘technical’ skills help us to understand and know God better, so the technical aspects in singing can help us ‘connect’ better in expressing ourselves during worship.
I now realize that singing as a form of worship engages not just the vocal cords but the mind, heart and almost every muscle and ‘space’ in the body. Hence, we engage our body, emotions, intellect and spirituality when singing to God in worship.

This program has been a great blessing to me.

I really enjoyed myself very much during this whole period of learning at Believer Music. I'm always looking forward to class every week. I've learnt so much and its really fun knowing how to play yet another musical instrument, as I used to play a bit of piano and my beloved French Horn when I was a concert band member in school. After learning guitar, and being able to play it quite smoothly for the easier songs, gave me a sense of achievement. Not only that, most importantly, I'm able to Worship God anywhere and anytime. (Psalm 139:14) I now have a new understanding about this verse ever since the Lord led me to start keyboard lessons at Believer Music. I thought it was something impossible to do at first but it turned out to be a time of marveling at what God can do.

With only three fingers on my right hand, I was very encouraged when my coach told me that's all I needed to play a chord. Thank you for your patience & encouragement! More than just learning to play the keyboard, I learnt how to worship God with all my heart - that really sums up what the six months of lessons were all about. Now, I've completed Worship Dynamics I!

I might not be good enough to play in groups but I'm thankful I can play and worship God in my own time and space. Of course, the discipline to practise must be there. But as we want to honour God with our worship, I'll press on and practise. I thank God for my coach and my classmates. We may be slower in picking up skills but each lesson was meaningful because His presence was with us.

I stopped learning the classical piano when I was 12yrs old. But watching others play the piano in church made me cry. There was once I heard a tune on the radio while studying overseas and was so desperate to play it that I went immediately to a music studio near my campus. Yet, sitting at the piano, my fingers couldn't move. After returning to Singapore for 5 years, I have approached several people to coach me, but no one had the time....

In between disappointments and times of waiting, Believer Music came into my life. Though I could not understand the chord progressions during my first WDII class, God chose such a time to heal me of the many years of bondage to disappointments and perception of my inadequacy. When the devotion based on an inspiration from Exodus was shared, tears gushed forth and I felt a new release in my heart. As I was unsuitable to start with WDII, I subsequently joined the Beginner module instead. But God is able to make all things possible in all circumstances.

I am so amazed that I am actually enjoying playing the keyboard. After 6mths here, I am finally moving on to WDII where I believe God will bring me to yet another level of faith, come tests and trials. God is the strength of my heart, to him be the glory forever and ever.

When God first put it in my heart to worship Him with more than just my limited vocal abilities; He showed me specifically that I was to minister to Him with the guitar and to give it my best. I had some music experience from my childhood days but I hated it. And the guitar was an instrument that baffled & confounded me.

But when that vision appeared one night, I searched around for a school to learn the instrument and was led to Believer Music. It's been about a year now and I must testify that with God's grace; the passion of my instructors and the desire to worship Him in all ways possible; I can now hold a decent tune, lead worship at cell and with my family. And it just keeps getting better as I offer my all to Him. As I grew in confidence, I once lost my focus and sought to improve my technique with a classical instructor at another music school (supplementing my BMI lessons). That was when the Lord gently chastened me and reminded me what worship was all about. The skills and technique I learn are meant to glorify Him - not myself and I will continue to pay heed to this.
For all of you who are discouraged - remember, He is worth the effort; He is worth the hard work, frustrating practice session; calloused fingers and missed beats. The fumbling chord changes, off-pitch barre chords and uneven strumming patterns. He is worth the sacrifices we have make to buy a good guitar; for the music we make to express our love and gratitude cannot but cause us to change from within; so that at the end of this journey we may be able to play for Him with all we've got when we see Him face to face. He IS Worthy.

I would say this is a long overdue testimony. But at least it allows me to look back and appreciate what He has done in my life. Stepped into Believer Music in Jul 01. That was my first year in Christ and my goal was simply to worship God with the guitar in my quiet time. But I was not serious about learning, usually not prepared for class, taking higher modules even though I was not ready for them. I felt lousy at the end of the course. But God saw what was inside me and somehow led me back to Believer Music this year. It was a tough decision to come back, having to fight against my feelings. But I'm glad I did and this time it's different. I would pray for maximum learning at each lesson and practise diligently. Slowly my confidence is being built.
I want to thank God for delivering me from my feelings of inadequacy, and placing such hope in me to do greater works through Him. My goal now is to be able to lead true worship. How different, if one waits for God's own time and looks to Him for help and deliverance. When at last help comes, after much prayers and faith and patience, it is the sweetness of the joy that faith brings. Lastly, I want to thank my coaches for their patience and sincere guidance. You have been great and Believer Music is a great place to learn.

My previous piano skills were memory and rote learning until grade 5 and that was 25 years ago. I never touched the piano until last year with Believer Music as I wanted to worship the Lord with music for many years.
The Keyboard lessons taught were so God-inspired and practical that the knowledge acquired has allowed me to help out in both the children and adults' worship team. I credit this not to my background as that was lost years ago but lessons that were focused on giving the Lord the best and coupled with teaching methods that were applicable and practical. The teachers were dedicated and personally interested in each student.

When I first enrolled for the course, it was to accompany a friend of mine who wanted to learn to play the keyboard. I knew nothing about playing the keyboard and thought that it might be good to learn another instrument besides the guitar. Over the months, I am amazed at how I progressed. I must take this opportunity to thank God and my coach for letting me see that learning the keyboard does not require alot of technical knowledge. You just need to have a heart and practice real hard after every lesson!
I find the whole course very enriching and uplifting. Each time when I am in class, I can always feel God's presence with us. There are times when I go to class feeling very lousy, but God will come through for me during the lessons. And I will walk out of class feeling ministered and uplifted.

Through it all, I learnt that skills are important. But more importantly, it is our HEART. We need to come with a heart of worship and with that, it will carry out the song that is from within. And the song will be played through our hands on the keyboard.

I attended the complete series of guitar courses at BM last year. When I enrolled for a refresher, I was amazed at the changes in the new Worship Dynamics programme. Merging guitar strumming with psalms was completely new to me. This different level of worship was a precursor of more things to come. The coach also taught us how to use chord progressions to enhance an atmosphere of praise. It is wonderful that with the use of simple techniques, worshippers can be brought into a whole new dimension of worship.

I want to thank Him for he gave me life and direction to live my life to the fullest everyday. I am in the church worship ministry. Most of the time, i use my singing talent to sing on stage as a vocalist. I often find myself singing out of tune and upon realising, i would start to sing softer. My school choir background led to my pride and thinking highly of my own voice. After joining the Believer Vocal class, i realised that there was more room for improvement. Though I learned something more important... Think about His Love when You are singing.. Sing with your heart and soul.. Ask the Holy Spirit to let you sing like an angel in Heaven.. It helped me when I am on stage because I'm no longer bothered about how the congregation would look at me. Instead, I spent the time worshipping him with my heart and soul.. For God does not judge us by how well or how sweet our voices sound. Instead, He looks more at our heart enjoying every moment of peace and joy with Him. I never expected myself to sign up for guitar lessons since I always believed that I was extra and exclusively hopeless to know the difference between Do, Re and Mi. The gifts of three guitars from friends, plus a cheque to urge me to go for Believer Music's lessons allowed me to go no other way but the leading of God's mercy.
I prayed persistently [can you believe it?] before my first lesson. I asked, "O Lord, please let me not embarrass myself too much. One [of the] thing that I ask from You is, I may dwell in the class until the end of it - without breaking the guitar strings or dropping the guitar on the floor..."

God indeed is faithful. I did more than mere survival. In fact, I enjoyed the first lesson so much I was looking forward to my next lesson eagerly! The fruits of the lessons have allowed me to soar higher in praise and worship, although I practiced with my poor rhythm sense and chord fluency. The lessons have drawn such passion in me and it amazes me how with the aid of a guitar, quiet time could be so transformed to have deeper fellowship with God.

I like the way the class was conducted. There was joy and openness among the students to share and exchange ideas. The panoramic view out the 24th floor was an added blessing, together with the well-thought, patient and gracious coaching from the coach.

I received the worst 'school' results ever in my life this morning. O yes, this is the evaluation for my Believer Beginner Guitar course. Sad? No, the truth quoted from the Believer Music web site sets me free. "Your grades do not reflect who you are as a child of God. It only aids you in knowing how ready you are for a musical ministry." I was overjoyed and excited and I read on... "As in the Widow's Offering in Mark 12, the best gift to God exists in the little that we have." So, keep it up Believer Music Team! God has laid His hands upon you and prosper your doings. May the Lord grant you clean hands and a pure heart to dwell in His high courts of praise and worship!

I started out on the Beginners guitar Course in the Believer Guitar Program at the encouragement of some friends from my cell group ministry who also joined in the same beginners course with me. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised at the method of instruction which makes it easy for any beginner to learn and play the guitar in a relatively short period of 8 lessons.
I am now able to play confidently in my own quiet time in my offering of praises in song to our God. I am glad that I am also able to offer my services to our God by playing the guitar to accompany the worship in song session in the Sunday School of my church.

Since learning the basic strumming skills in the beginner's course, I have moved on to Worship Dynamics and will be continuing with Advanced Worship Dynamics to better equip myself for service to our God when He provides me with the opportunity.

Things you taught like changing from chord to chord using the shortcut methods is pretty new and refreshing to me, the way chords are being played are also different from the conventional ones ...... would say I've enjoyed the class and i do look forward to go on the intermediate class some time later. Need to practice 2 months or so and perfect it before I sign up for the next class rite? Be sure I'll be back ..... and bring more friends.

Size of the class is juz nice, comfortable to share and learn together.
Coaching: very professional, we were assessed individually and given comments for room to improve.

I find very good because there is a personal touch that the coach really bothers to see that we make it.

Manuals: Very detailed with lots of nice songs which I find that we do not have enough time to run through the last few songs. Rhythms that we learnt are very catchy and also a good repetition of combined rhythm that makes it earlier to learn.

Coach: very friendly and encouraging that makes our lesson light with value-added fun and inspiration. He always believes that we CAN DO IT and give us a good foundation too.

Always in cloud nine after lesson that we will practice before bedtime.

I enrolled for the Beginners Music Class in January 2000 with no prior knowledge of music or playing any musical instruments.
In the beginning, with my lack of knowledge in music, I have thought of giving up. However, the coach was very patient with me. He coached me and continued to guide me even though I was slow in learning at first. His constant encouragement and patient coaching motivated me to persevere. Finally after completing this course in March, I was able to play a few simple songs on the guitar.

I'm playing!! I'm playing!!! I'm now addicted!!! Can't get pass a day without having a go at my guitar. Thanks for making playing the guitar so simple. Always thought it was something difficult to master. I led worship the night of my last lesson and my cell members couldn't believe that 8 lessons could do miracle. Of course, I played the songs we have been playing during the 8 weeks. But they were impressed enough to contemplate signing up for your classes and I was encouraged enough by their response to try more songs and lead more worship.
What I really like about the lessons is the encouragement that was given during the class and what you sent via e-mail.... Especially the one about the guitar being more than just a music instrument but a weapon of warfare. Now, every time I pick up my guitar, I pick it up with pride and purpose!

Indeed, the class has offered many of us an opportunity to understand the instrument called "guitar" better and its God's given "hidden power". The fellowship we had, though only once a week, is sufficient for us not to just merely greet one another when in church. We were (still are!) so eager to get to the point of what we heard coming out from the coaches’ hands.
Many of us have bought guitars before and just couldn't get to where we are today. So, I thank God for you two. Although it may not sound the way we want it to be YET, we could at least organize a bunch of sound into music now. I'm sure with more practice, we will make it.

I can't imagine that I'm really playing guitar! Yes, yes, I really do and only with 8 sessions of the lessons! Amazing isn't it? Thanks to Believer Guitar Program and our coach who made it so simple for us.
Before signing up for the program, I was not able to play the guitar at cell meetings. Trying hard but always felt that it didn't sound right. Even with the encouragement of my 3 cell guitarists, I still couldn't.

I believe that soon I'll be ready to take up the task of a cell guitarist but of course start with playing the songs that I'm familiar with the chords first. So Coach, continue with your good work, we will not disappoint you.

I have enjoyed the lessons; they are concise and easy to understand - I have been able to play simple tunes since the 3rd lesson. In the midst of all this newly found musical knowledge (ahem; I refrain from using the word talent) - I realize I cannot pitch correctly when I sing!!!!. I used to sing like anybody's business, and now I am shy to sing out loud. My poor guitarist must have been trying hard to improvise to match my constant "C" key. I joined Believer Music because I wanted to improve my playing for youth worship, I wanted to learn how everything related to the guitar. I was a little doubtful about being placed in the Beginner course since I was already very comfortable with the guitar though I never had proper lessons but I really enjoyed it and learnt heaps. It taught me to view our skill like a new language, language we can use to magnify His name and worship Him but also to call others to do the same. I also appreciated that the course material made learning the guitar much easier because everything was reduced to a science; manageable bits as opposed to chunks of information like when I first picked up the guitar! Yet it did not require us to have a background in music like reading scores for example. The system really works. It has enriched my personal worship and is so much fun and pleasure whenever I pick up the guitar nowadays!

I am glad I came for the course. It has opened a whole new avenue of worship for me personally. I know that as a leader in my church much is expected of me in the area of worship. So being able to play the basics helps alot in this aspect.
Although what I have learnt is only the first step, and there is much more to learn, I took the bold step of singing a solo accompanied by the guitar during my church's worship service. It was just to introduce to the congregation the new joy I have found in being able to worship with the guitar. Of course, that was not the major reason. I used the item I gave as an object lesson for my sermon that morning on "Perseverance in Suffering".

As every beginner will tell you, learning to play the guitar can be very frustrating. You can't coordinate your left and right hands, let alone sing along. And the pain we get pressing the strings can be rather discouraging. But the joy of being able to make sense at the end is worth the perseverance and all the pain. And, the congregation has now realised that it is never too old to pick up guitar playing (although I had in the beginning felt rather out of place amongst all the young ones.)

The presence of God during the class makes all the difference in the world. I have looked forward to every lesson because it is a time of refreshing in the presence of God after a mad day at work. Anyone can learn to play, but not all are taught how to worship. I appreciate the impartation I have received.
The course has brought salvation to my 79 year old grandmother! Praise the Lord! Its a wonder how God works! I was supposed to join Monday's class with my aunt, Joanna from Church of Praise. However, the class was full and I attended Wednesday's class instead. My Wednesday's classmates, Elida and Cythnia from from Kum Yan Cantonese Methodist Church told me there was a Cantonese service and Christmas dinner on 23 Dec. I bought tickets for my grandmother and she agreed to attend despite being a Buddhist for 40 years. I wanted her to have a good time, mingling with other elderly ladies. That evening, her first time in church, God touched her heart and she accepted Christ as her saviour. Halleluiah! Now, my grandmother has been talking about removing the alter in the house and she wanted to do it by this week. Praise the Lord again! I hope you can share this with your students. Thank God for our classmates and who knows, the person sitting beside you may be the one to bring salvation to our unsaved loved ones!

The beginner program had been valuable. I have learnt a few tricks that make me confident enough to play some songs in the cell. The instructor has been encouraging and patient with us (with me). The duration of the lesson could be longer though to allow us more time to practice. Perhaps it can be arranged that there be rooms for some of us who come early to practice. Nevertheless this course has certainly benefited me, someone who has struggled with the guitar for so long.

I appreciated the systematic way we were taught to pick up new songs, how each of the steps (1st just plain strumming, then playing the chords,....) were "layered". As a beginner, that really helped, because it will be a big fumble to juggle all the four aspects of playing the guitar simultaneously. By allowing us time to practice the parts individually, I thought it also helped to build some measure of confidence in the eventual culmination of the steps - i.e. the understanding that beginners are truly "slow and hesitant" helps!

Personally, I find that going thru the basic program opened up new vistas of worshiping God with music. In the past, what I do is to sing along with the CD or just without music accompaniment. But now, with simple chords, the worship is much enhanced. Although I took up classical guitar lessons, now that I can strum with chords in the styles that u taught (I've not learnt previously) you can sing fast and slow songs in a rhythmic, steady manner.
Truly with live music, you can be brought into this atmosphere of worship and be in one spirit with God and fellow worshippers. The challenge for me is to keep practicing the tougher chords, keep the beat steady and be courageous enough to play at cell group!

I enjoyed the camaderie very much - practicing with and learning from each other. It helps that the instructor is very patient and willing to answer our queries. If I have not said this during the course, my Coach, thanks so much for teaching us - it's truly a labour of love on your part and that of the other instructors and I'm sure the Lord will be gloried and pleased. Going for the cell guitarist course by Believer Music Initiative has revived my passion for guitar and learning how to play it. It's good interacting with people of different backgrounds. Believer Music has provided a place of worship where instructors are worshipful by nature. Indeed, it has been a rewarding experience. I didn't have much confidence of playing the guitar since I last picked up trying to play the guitar casually from a friend who obviously can play but not teach. I like the songs chosen as practice pieces. One observation is that coming to the end of the class, we were learning quite a few new chords and songs in just one session. I must give a "thumbs-up" to the Beginners Module (pardon me I'm still on the pun). I believe careful thought must have been given to the writing of this module, as it meets the specific needs of the beginner by capturing our interest at a pace that is not stressful but fun and relaxed. I looked forward to every lesson. It definitely produces tangible results that are satisfactory and fulfilling. I especially liked the fact that the lessons were not focused on individual "Performance", but gave me space to develop and find my own rhythm. I also found the e-newsletters meaningfully written and was personally ministered to. Way t'go!

You guys have done an excellent job. Thank you for your patience and impartation, and for just being such a blessing to me. I've simply enjoyed the 8 weeks of the program - it was just great joy; and the Lord even used some of the sessions and the practices at home to minister to me. Before I started the course, my wife complained that I was making noise (lots of it) whenever I tried to learn the guitar on my own. Now, at least she can follow along the worship songs with my strumming. Praise God!
I pray that our good Lord bless and keep you and your team in your ministry, and that you will continue to equip more and more of His saints to lead His people into His presence through worship.
